This week Empire Avenue has been doing a blog-a-thon. It’s a great idea to rally EAvers to blog about Empire Avenue and get some bring some additional visitors and publicity to their blogs, as well as to Empire Avenue.
Sounds like a win-win-win to me.
After more than 33 posts and 1200 posts, Empire Avenue Tips is one of the longest running blogs about Empire Avenue, so I couldn’t let this opportunity pass without contributing a post.
So, why am I still engaged in Empire Avenue after all all this time?
Here are 5 reasons…
1) EAV missions give you the ability to achieve greater reach for the ‘dollar’ (eaves) and a greater audience for your content.
2) EAV’s detailed analytics, gives you a fun and easy way to spot what’s working – and what’s not.
3) EAV helps you connect with social media leaders, professionals, bloggers, and business people so you can get quick and meaningful exposure for interests and a potentially large audience with minimal time and effort..
4) EAV helps you discover content and new social media trends.
5) EAV is now guided by users. You’re not just at the mercy of some faceless company, but by joining Empire Avenue Leaders you can actually have a say EAv’s future.
So yeah, I pretty much pilfered those reasons from the EAv blog-a-thon post. But I agree with the author of that post – those are 5 good reasons to engage at EAv. I will through in one more…
BONUS: Empire Avenue is still a relatively small community of users. Since most people are not here, it gives you an edge. And as it grows, and more people jump on the Avenue, you’ll have the advantage of having built up your virtual wealth.
Post a comment and let me know which of these 6 reasons is the biggest reason you’re on EAv?

Aww, thanks Kita. YOU are awesome! 🙂

Reason 1 is a good reason, but I have not yet done so many missions (on to-do list). The 3rd and 4th reasons are also on my list.
But I have a 7th reason, the gamification aspect. EAv still has many game elements (like becoming rich) and so it is fun too. Nice to see myself (http://www.empireavenue.com/FILMIO) go up the leaders ladder 🙂

Thanks Arne. Yep, it’s fun. Although, I would say that after a while you can end up with more eaves than you know what to do with and it can become repetitious, but now that it’s led by users, they are trying to keep it fun even for long term users.

Excellent tips that I’m sure could be doubled if you wanted to. These are five great reasons to use EA though. Thanks for posting

Yes, EAv is good for fun and helps marketing.
I have an 8th reason to engage: I am working on a game which has the core of EAv, but its mission could do much more, realizing real development projects around powered by the players and managed by the internet.
Partners sought to set up SocEnt to develop this.

Sounds good Ferdinand. Sounds a lot like #3. Hope you’re able to connect with the people who can help you succeed in that venture.

Agree with the first 4 but as for 5 I believe that EA has become increasingly faceless. Multitudes of messages and threats and suspensions from entities that we have no idea who is behind and zero answers to support requests and questions in the past month. I believe that whoever is running EA has zero idea how to integrate what has been built with any kind of business and that their appreciation of the internet, web design, social media and especially customer service is inept at best.
In the past 6 weeks I have had around $400 taken from me in payments I made for a Mercury premium account but I was granted no access to that account. Total loss in eaves around 350 million so far. No replies at all to several requests and questions about this. Was treated similarly from other accounts i manage as well. Appalling really but seems to have become the norm Paul.

As I am effectively barred from communities because of a threat of account deletion if I post in them I have nowhere else to bring this up. Believe me i do not like having to say these things but I will not stand by and see so much money ripped off me and be treated so badly by these people whoever they are. You say they are users Paul? Well then who are they?

Michael, since I’m not one of the leaders of EAv Leaders, I can’t speak to who is doing what now. I don’t know what is being done by EAv Leaders and what is being done by the paid staff of EAv. And obviously, I can’t speak to the specifics of your situation. You’ve given your side of the story, but I don’t know EAv’s side.

Kindofa 180 from this time last year, isn’t it? I mean I thought you were on the verge of giving it all up from all the lousy support and communication you were getting…

I’m not saying EAv is the “next big thing” or it’s the key to online success. There are still a lot of issues that hinder its effectiveness, but I thought in the spirit of the blogging event it would be worthwhile to cite some of the benefits.
